| What is a card? |
A card is similar to a page of notes. They're called cards since
they have evolved from the flash cards many people use to study with.
A card can contain text boxes and graphics which makes them visually
stimulating and more memorable. |
| What is a chapter? |
A chapter is a RecallPlus file. It is a collection of cards which
are typically on a similar topic. For example if you had some cards
on animals and some cards on automobiles, it would make sense to have
these cards in two separate chapters |
| What is a Standard chapter? |
A RecallPlus file, produced only by the 'Standard Full Version'
of the program. It's characteristics are similar to that of a standard
file produced by typical software anywhere, unlike 'Evaluation Chapters'.
Specifically it may be used on instances of RecallPlus other than
just this computer and may be copied to back it up.
If you take it to your friend's computer, which is also running the
Full Version of RecallPlus, you will find it opens as it does on yours.
You can also therefore backup your notes only with the Full Version
of the program.
Standard chapters may be viewed in the evaluation edition of the program, but they may not be edited nor tested in the evaluation edition. This means that educators or students may produce content that may at the very least be viewed by users who have not purchased RecallPlus (but have downloaded the evaluation edition).
Contrast this with an 'Evaluation
Chapter' produced by the Evaluation
Version' of the Program
Evaluation Chapters may be opened, edited and tested only on the computer they were created on UNTIL they are changed to standard chapters at the time the user Activates his copy of RecallPlus from Evaluation Edition to one of the Full Editions (Essentials, Pro or Expert).
From then on, when an evaluation chapter is opened, it is converted to standard type. |
| How do I open existing chapters? |
To open one chapter at a time, click the green "OPEN Chapter(s)"
button at the top of the screen and select the chapter of interest
from the list then click "OPEN"

you click on each chapter you are interested in. Then click "OPEN"
To open all of your chapters in a particular directory, click 'Open chapter(s)' then click Ctrl-A and press open. |
| How do I view and select a card from those that are open? |
In the knowledge Tree window to the left you will find there is a tree of chapters, and the cards in them. Simply double click on the card of notes you wish to open. |

Testing
| What are connects? |
Connects are the lines that appear between the text boxes you create.
They show the order the boxes will be revealed to you in testing mode |
| How do I add connects, or edit connects that have already been added? |
You can elect to have connects automatically linking your new text
box to the previously created one by going to "Options/Prefs" (second
from the left in the menu bar)
Alternatively you can add them yourself by right clicking on the text
box you want to connect FROM, selecting "CONNECT" then left click
on the text box you wish to connect TO
Once a connect has been created, you can edit it by right clicking
on the connect itself, or by right clicking on the box the connect
ENDS at and selecting "Edit Connects" |
| What is meant by the "weighting" of a card? |
The weighting of a card reflects its importance. The program will
ask you questions that are due to be tested with a higher weighting
before those with a lower weighting |
| How do I get into and out of test mode? |
The green "TEST MODE" button toggles you in and out of test mode,
starting with the card you are viewing at the time
The red "Test Next to Test" button will find the next card you are
to be tested on. If you are not in test mode when you click it, you
will be taken into test mode |
| Why am I not being tested on some of the chapters I have downloaded
from the internet? |
You will not be tested on a card unless you have already seen it
at least once. So with any chapters you download you will need to
go look at each card before they are added to the list of cards to
be checked |
| So I'm in test mode and can see the first text box for this card....
Now what? |
Once you work out the answer to the question posed by the first
text box, left click twice on the text box to be shown the next box(es)
in sequence
Alternatively you can click once on the exposed text box and then
click on each of the connects to expose each subsequent text box one
by one |
| What do I do when I have exposed all the text boxes to be tested
on this card? |
Right click once on any of the text boxes you almost recalled (this
will surround them with an orange box) and twice on any you didn't
recall at all (this will surround them with a red box). This will
let the computer know how soon to test you on each part of this card
again
Then click the red "Test Next to Test" button and start on the next
card you are shown |
