What are Flashcard Programs?

Traditional flashcard programs are programs which allow students to learn and revise information through displaying the information in a format which mimics hand-held flashcards.

Hand-held flashcards are cards which typically have a question on one side, and an answer on the other. For instance, if a student was learning a foreign language, their study flashcards might have an English word on one side, and the equivalent foreign language word on the other side. Another example would be for a student of mathematics: the study flashcard would have an equation on one side, and the answer to the equation on the other.

Computerized flashcard programs use the same principle in testing students: a question is asked, and an answer given. Computerized flashcard programs also have the added benefit of being able to track a studentís progress in the tests, and manage a studentís revision according to how well the student performs over time.
