Journey Memory Tool or 'Method of Loci'

The significance of the Journey method is that it takes advantage of Location Memory in addition to visual memory and Imagination as well as Associations.
These 3 things - Imagination, Association and Location are said by Dominic O'Brien - 8 times world memory champion, to be the most important factors that helped him win!

How does one create a Journey to remember something

1. First you need to choose a trip of some description... ideally one that YOU have made. It can be international, or local.
Something which is somewhat more specific to the things that you are tring to learn is appropriate.
It can be a trip you are going to make, are making or made in your childhood... you have plenty to choose from.
Depending on what you are trying to recall, find a number of landmarks along the way.

2. Next associate the items with those landmarks by making some sort of relationship between them e.g. if you are memorising a bottle of champagne and the landmark is a fence, imagine the champagne popping as it sits on the fence, hear the pop, run your finger through the stream of champagne as it runs like a river down the side of the rough fence palings.

3. Revise your journey at optimal intervals to make sure it is there when you need it.

How does RecallPlus compliment the Journey Method

RecallPlus is easily able to describe the journey through a chain of textboxes +- images to go with it.
Each association can be tested sequentially and individually using RecallPlus tracking of associations.

Suggestion:- if you spend the time making especially strong associations using techniques such as these, it is suggested that you increase the time until RecallPlus tests you for the first time on your notes.
Select menu item - 'Options' - 'Preferences' - 'Timing' - 'Minimum interval to test' - change this from 10 to 60 or even 240 minutes!
